I need to know “popular” children’s charities in the Tri-State area. Any thoughts?
Bean asked:
What are children “suffering” the most from in the Tri-State area? Is it obesity? Abuse? Lack of education?

Which Tri-State area do you mean? Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska. There are many tri-state areas and even one quad-state area.

Our Tri-state (NY, NJ & CT) most children are suffering from poverty and medical issues. There is a new foundation in NYC called Our Baby. The family lost a 9 day old child last year. If there had been enough money to have a PMD in the emergency room the night they brought there daughter in she could still be alive today. They are attempting to raise enough money to pay the physicains them selves. Thats a great charity!

I can tell you two wonderful charities that help children. One is the Saint Judes Hospital in Memphis Tennessee, but takes in kids from all across the country. It is the charity that takes children suffering from cancer at no charge for their treatment. You used to see Danny Thomas always acting as spokesman for it, now his daughter Marlo has taken it on as well. I think that it is a magnificent charity and has an impeccable reputation of treating all children regardless of race or religion.
Then another that doesn’t always get the attention that I feel it deserves is Ronald McDonald House. it is a charity of the MacDonald’s hamburger chain, and it offers long term accommodations to the parents of children who are hospitallized with serious problems that require long hospita stays. It makes it possible for that baby or little kid to have his parents close at hand. I think it is one of the most wonderful charities out there. I am sure that wherever the tri state area you are referring to is, there is at least One Ronald MacDonald House in it.
