KPBS is always looking for car donations, give them a call…

    churches might want the car.

make sure that the DMV knows so when someone uses it to do bad things, your name is cleared.

I recommend using Donateacar.com They are awesome for this. The website is easy as heck to navigate as well.

Basically, your friend fills out the donation application, and can select from hundreds of respected charities that the proceeds will go to. There’s also some research information available on all the different charities.
From there, after the donation is finalized, they arrange for a licensed, bonded & insured towing company to contact your friend. They usually contact within a few days to arrange for pickup of the vehicle.

They also provide some information on the tax deduction piece of it, with a link to some useful info from the IRS. Additionally, if they sell the vehicle for more than $500 (which is what the IRS will allow the deduction up to), they mail you a letter to let you know what the sell value was.

So, tell your friend to go there. They’re awesome, your friend can choose where the money goes, and it gets picked up! Convenience in a bottle I tell ya :)
