Why did charities stop sending me curbside pick-up notices?

We use to get these postcards that said when the charity truck would be on our street and to leave donated items on the curb. I have not received a card in months. My neighbors are still receiving cards because I see their stuff out there. Could the charities have ‘blacklisted’ us for some reason?

Can I donate to charities without constant mailings and requests for more money?

I’m looking for a way to donate to charities whose causes I support, while avoiding some problems I’ve had in the past.

1. I don’t want to drown in request for money from other charities. I would rather pick one or two charities that are active in an area I care about, and give my donations to them. I’ve had bad experience with this in the past — any little donation gets me on a “sucker list”. Just because I give to one charity doesn’t mean I want to give to all of them.

2. I don’t want constant requests for more money from the charity I donate to. I want to give a donation once or twice a year and that’s all. I ESPECIALLY don’t want phone requests for to deal with some “emergency” that really isn’t emerging — it’s been there all along, but is just a good emotional story. I gave to the Natural Resources Defense Council several years ago, and they were horrible about this.

I don’t mind legitimate communications from the charity. I just don’t want constant solicitations.

How does one get off the mailing list of all the charities?

I have recently retired and the income now is far less than desireable. The charities I used to give to I no longer am able to. BUT they must have given my name and address to all the others. I am getting hit by almost every charity there is and I just can’t do it any longer.

My wife is battling ****** cancer & wants to do both the Susan Komen and the Avon Walk for ****** Cancer this year… Her goal is to raise $50,000 for each charity, this year!
So, I think some type of short letter requesting donations from big businesses with the 501(c)3 information and the corporate address for the charities will do the trick…
But I think I need some better direction with this big goal…

I volunteered to help with a charity but i think what they are asking of me is kinda weird. agree?

I volunteered to help with a charity at my job and we are raising money by auction off gift baskets.. they asked me to go around to various stores and restaurants and ask for donations (mainly gift cards or small items). Is this something restaurants normally do? I have a feelings im not going to have any luck and Im going to have to come back empty handed.. do restaurants really do this??

It’s a rehab charity in South London – taking prisoners straight after release and rehabilitating them back into society.

It’s a Christian project that has about 14 people living in at any one time.

I have some ideas, but I’d love to hear what you all think!

I thought I saw something on the news once about giving your “gently worn” business suits to charity for women trying to get jobs in the business world who couldn’t afford nice clothes. Anyone heard of this?

Someone I know was receiving assistance from a charity. They gave her a job at one of their facilities, etc. However, they required that she attend religious services. She said she couldn’t and they told her she was fired.
